Storm No.2 - DOKSURI

I. Evolution of the storm
- On July 24, a strong storm with the international name DOKSURI was active in the East Sea of the Philippines.
- At 4:00 p.m. on July 24, the location of the center of storm DOKSURI was at about 16.2 degrees North latitude; 126.1 degrees East longitude, about 420km east of Lu-Dong island (Philippines). The strongest wind in the area near the center of the storm is strong at level 14-15 (150-183km/h), jerking above level 17.
- On the morning of July 27, Typhoon DOKSURI passed the northern area of Ludong Island (Philippines), entered the Northeast region of the North East Sea, becoming the No. 2 storm in 2023.
- This morning (July 28), typhoon No. 2 moved inland in the southern region of Fujian province (China).
- At 10 o'clock, the location of the storm's center is about 24.9 degrees North latitude; 118.5 degrees East longitude. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the storm is strong at level 13 (134-149km/h), level 15.
- It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move in the north-northwest direction, going deep into the mainland of Fujian province (China), weakening and gradually dissipating.
- Today, the northeast sea of the North East Sea region still has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9; rough seas; sea waves are 3.0-5.0m high.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Central
- The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control has issued Official Letter No. 276/VPTT dated July 24, 2023 to the Steering Committees of Disaster Prevention and Control of the coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Khanh Hoa and the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Transport, proposing to actively respond to Typhoon DOKSURI in the East Sea of the Philippines.
2. Locality
- Provinces and cities actively organize the implementation of measures to respond to Typhoon DOKSURI according to Official Letter No. 276/VPTT dated July 24, 2023 of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention.
