I. DEVELOPMENTS
- Early on October 22, the tropical depression in the sea east of the Philippines strengthened into a storm and was internationally named TRAMI.
- On the afternoon of October 24, storm TRAMI (in Vietnamese, Tra Mi) entered the sea east of the North East Sea, becoming the 6th storm in 2024.
- At 4:00 a.m., the center of the low pressure area was at about 15.7 degrees North latitude; 108.4 degrees East longitude. The strongest wind in the center of the low pressure area decreased to below level 6 (below 39km/h).
- It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the low pressure area will move mainly in the East Northeast direction, weakening and gradually dissipating.
II. DIRECTION AND RESPONSE WORK
- The Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 110/CD-TTg dated October 24, 2024 directing the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen and ministries and branches to respond to the storm.
- On the afternoon of October 25, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting chaired by Minister Le Minh Hoan with ministries, branches and provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan on the implementation of response to storm No. 6.
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Official Dispatch No. 7966/CD-BNN-DD dated October 22, 2024 and No. 7930/CD-BNN-DD dated October 21, 2024 to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan on responding to storm TRAMI near the East Sea.
- On October 25, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control issued Document No. 1142/DD-QLDD to coastal provinces/cities from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen to deploy work to ensure dyke safety in response to storm No. 6 (TRAMI).
- The Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Transport, Industry and Trade, Health, Education and Training have issued Official Dispatches on storm response; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a Note from October 22, 2024 to countries and territories requesting to create conditions and support fishermen to take shelter.
- Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency and mass media agencies update and broadcast storm forecasts to serve the direction and warning work for the people.
- On October 20, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Official Dispatch No. 7878/BNN-DD to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang on proactively responding to strong winds, big waves and thunderstorms at sea.
