Chiều ngày 01/9/2015 tại phòng họp nhà A2 của Bộ Nông nghiệp và Phát triển Nông thôn, Tổng cục Thủy lợi đã tổ chức lễ ký Bản ghi nhớ (MoU) hợp tác giữa Tổng cục Thủy lợi (WRD), Cơ quan hàng không vũ trụ Nhật Bản (JAXA) và Viện hàn lâm Khoa học và Công nghệ Việt Nam (VAST) nhằm đẩy mạnh sự hợp tác về ứng dụng công nghệ địa không gian trong phòng chống thiên tai tại Việt Nam.

Enable the Blind to participate in CBDRM: Completion of the audio script

Supported by Malteser International, the Thua Thien Hue Blind Association, Hanoi Disabled People's Organization, and Lift You Up group have cooperated and worked hard to help the Blind to learn about CBDRM. At the second workshop conducted on Aug 26, 2014, we all spent several hours discussing with high working spirit and responsibility towards finalizing the contents of CBDRM audio. In the end of the long day, all of us were very satisfied with the CBDRM audio script which we hope will enable the Blind to participate more effectively in CBDRM. We already look forward to the next step ahead: Testing the audio with the Blind in the community.

What a useful trip!

Even though it was long and hard, our trip was very interesting and useful and we gathered many new experiences and knowledge. We, members of the Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) of Hanoi and Quang Nam, spent ten days in Vinh Thuan Dong commune, Long My district, Hau Giang province in the South of Vietnam joining a government Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training organized by the commune’s technical assistant group. Through our participation, we wanted to find out how inclusion is instructed in CBDRM trainings as well as how it is implemented in the Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA) and planning proccess on village level later on.

“Nothing about us without us” . On October 4, 2013 Malteser International in Vietnam in coordination with other NGOs and Disabled People’s Organization of Quang Nam (Quang Nam DPO) held an event to celebrate the International Disaster Risk Reduction Day, aiming to bring up the opportunity for disabled people to raise their voices to decision makers in disaster risk management. The celebration is one of the activities in the Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) project of Disability inclusive DRR Network (DiDRRN), funded by German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
