Vietnam and many countries face intense heat wave in 4 months

9:20:14, 17/05/2023 According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, Vietnam and many Asian countries are facing records of heat waves or heat waves in 4 months.

In recent days, Vietnam has recorded a number of hot spots from 41 degrees to 42 degrees Celsius in provinces such as Son La, Nghe An. Since the beginning of the season, the Northwest and Central regions have had 3 large-scale heat waves but up to 2 waves have recorded heat values exceeding record levels compared to the same period in previous years.

In Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province, the temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius was recorded on March 22, 3.3 degrees Celsius higher than the old record set in 1996. This is the highest temperature ever recorded in our country in March in the history of meteorological observation.

Vietnam was affected by record heat in April 4.

According to Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, the record heat in Asia and Southeast Asia in April was caused by the westerly wind current of the southern branch of the Tibetan plateau moving north early, creating conditions for the hot lows in Asia to operate earlier and stronger than the annual average,  causing a heat background that is many years higher than average.
"In Vietnam, in addition to the impact of the Asian hot lowland, it is also affected by the wind blow, when affecting the Hoang Lien Son range and the west of Truong Son, it will cause the effect of lightning winds to cause the level of heat in the northwest and west of Thanh Hoa provinces,  Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri are more harsh," Huong said.
