A corner of the new resettlement area of Tu Tho village, Te Xang commune
We came to Tu Tho village in a rainy and muddy day. Although it is only about 5km from the headquarters of Te Xang Commune People's Committee, but because it is located on a high mountain range, it also takes more than 30 minutes to conquer the challenge, with a small concrete road, one side is a high mountain, the other is a cliff. It was very dangerous, we just reached the house at the top of the village.
These days, people in Tu Tho village are racing against time, helping and supporting each other to move their houses from the landslide area to the new resettlement area. This is the third time in more than 15 years that Xe Dang people in Tu Tho village have had to reluctantly move their village for their own safety, so experience is indispensable for a smooth and safe move. and fastest.
Prior to that, during the 2004 flood, many houses in the village collapsed. According to relatives, in the night, suddenly, a large flood from the ravine poured in, causing the whole village to flee, and had to focus on sheltering in the most solidly built community house. Fortunately, no loss of life occurred and soon after, the government moved people to a new resettlement area nearly 1km from the old village.
Life gradually stabilized, then 5 years later (in 2009), consecutive storms and tropical depressions causing heavy and prolonged rain put Tu Tho village in an extremely dangerous position, when hovering overhead were "ground bomb" waiting to fall. The leaders of Kon Tum province and the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district urgently completed the disaster prevention and mitigation project by building dozens of solid concrete houses in the resettlement area to relocate households located in the area. dangerous landslide areas to avoid safe shelter.
However, when life has stabilized, in 2019, in a row, large floods poured in, causing serious damage to the resettlement houses. Many houses appeared "death pits" due to subsidence, waiting to collapse. Right in the night, the commune authorities evacuated all households in the village to a safe place. After this "great flood", Tu Mo Rong district submitted a report to the People's Committee of Kon Tum province to approve the "package" of a project to build a resettlement area for three communes, Te Xang, Tu Mo Rong and Dak Ro Ong, with Total investment is nearly 70 billion dong, of which, Tu Tho village alone is allocated capital up to 29 billion dong.
With the largest investment capital ever, Tu Mo Rong district has relocated all 139 households (each household area 800m2), at the same time, completed and solidified the infrastructure system. such as electricity, domestic water, cultural communal houses, kindergartens, inter-village roads, intra-field roads... quickly stabilize life for people.
Talking to us, Mr. A De, Chairman of Te Xang Commune People's Committee said: “During the flood in 2019, the commune authorities were very worried about the safety of the people. As soon as the district selected a safe location, we urgently mobilized people to move to a new place. However, many households in the area have not yet been able to go to the resettlement area due to difficulties in building houses. For this, we continue to advise and propose to superiors and develop the most suitable options, with the determination that by the end of 2021, we will move all nearly 140 households to a new and stable resettlement area. determine life and production”.
