About the confrence
This is an activity within the framework of the cooperation between Vietnam Disaster Management Authority - the standing office of the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and World Bank (WB) to implement the activity "Evaluation of lessons learned in disaster prevention and response. ”
Within the Conference, experts discussed the evaluation of some International Center models; international experience on the Center's policies, institutions and operations.
Speaking at the conference, experts representing the World Bank said: These operating centers have been deployed in many countries and emphasis on building the Center should focus on people. WB is ready to accompany and share knowledge as well as support Vietnam Disaster Management Authority to improve its capacity to cope with natural disasters.

During Conference, Mr. Tran Quang Hoai said that Vietnam Disaster Management Authority was assigned to build Center in Hanoi and other two regional Centers in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho. This center needs the whole building, equipment, peripheral connections. If fully implemented, the funding for the center will be very large and expect WB to support Vietnam Disaster Management Authority to put the Center into operation.

WB representative congratulated Vietnam Disaster Management Authority has gone ahead other countries in the world on building a National Disaster Prevention and Control Center. The final product is the Steering Committee and the people. When we want to give them information, we need to design operational systems to support the integration of data from different facilities.
Mr. Tran Quang Hoai highly appreciated the recommendations of experts from World Bank, sharing with the Conference about the series of international scientific events in natural disaster prevention which will take place on 18-19 May. The Prime Minister will preside over a National Conference on Natural Disaster Prevention, with the Chairman, Vice President and representatives of relevant agencies and organizations attending the Conference. Mr. Hoai emphasized his expectation that the World Bank would call on organizations and countries with advanced equipment and science in the field of natural disaster prevention to participate in the exhibition.
On this occasion, Mr. Tran Quang Hoai also introduced WB experts on the disaster prevention and control operating system of the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention.
