
At the training session, 121 officials at the provincial, district, and communal levels of Ca Mau were introduced to the following content by instructors from the center:
- The role and importance of socioeconomic data in disaster prevention and response.
- An introduction to the socioeconomic database software and the socioeconomic indicators for disaster prevention and response. The software was developed by the National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and has been upgraded in 2022 to support disaster prevention efforts. After 5 years of use, the software has now compiled data from 8 provinces, including Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Ca Mau, Gia Lai, and 139 coastal communes from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh.
- Practical training on updating information and using the functions of the socioeconomic database system for disaster prevention and response.

Ms. Đỗ Thị Hồng Nhung - Head of the Policy and Training Department, Center for Policy and Technical Support for Disaster Prevention - introduced the role and significance of the socioeconomic database in all three phases of disaster prevention, response, and recovery.
At the training course, the trainees shared their experiences and difficulties in collecting and using collected data in local disaster prevention and control work and updating and collecting economic and population data according to the latest form in 2024.
Through the training session, the delegates grasped the indicators, data fields, importance and application of the economic and population form for disaster prevention and control work. From there, they can apply the form and collect and synthesize data of their locality, contributing to improving local disaster prevention and control work. After the course, most of the trainees wanted to regularly attend training courses on disaster prevention and control to be updated promptly on the situation of natural disasters, innovations in disaster prevention and control work, and improve awareness and professional qualifications in disaster prevention and control work. Trainees hope that after the training course on collecting economic and demographic data, they will be trained in using this database to develop a gender-integrated disaster prevention plan and gender-based violence prevention plan for the 2025-2026 period.
