In Dak Lak province, there are more than 500,000 hectares of forest, but nearly half of them are in a state of fire alarm level 4, nearly reaching level 5. The functional forces are urgently implementing plans to prevent forest fires such as: fire-blocking runways, cleaning forests at the beginning of the dry season. In addition, forest rangers regularly check the fire prevention and fighting work of forest owners, promptly correct and handle units that are negligent in this work.
Since the beginning of the year, the Central Highlands and the South have only had a few unseasonal rains. The long dry weather caused the vegetation of many forests to become dry and easy to catch fire. The area at risk of forest fires is expanding.
According to information from the Forest Protection Department, up to 23 districts in the 4 Central Highlands provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Lam Dong and An Giang of the South are currently in the fire warning zone level 5 - extremely dangerous level. .
In addition, a series of other forests of the Central Highlands, Dong Thap, Kien Giang and Ca Mau provinces also warned of forest fire level 4 - dangerous level.
It is forecasted that the peak dry season in the Central Highlands and the South will last about 2 months. In adverse weather, in areas with fire warnings, people do not burn fields for cultivation, or have other fire-using activities in and near forests.
