Kien Giang: Region 5 The Navy helps people defend and prevent coastal erosion

Due to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and big waves, at 10:15 a.m. on September 3, coastal erosion began to take place in the Bai Xep area of group 9, neighborhood 5. About 20 houses are located close to the shore. the sea is directly affected. Among them, a number of houses collapsed.

Faced with the above situation, on the morning of September 4, the Party Committee and local government asked the Naval Region 5 Command to support the implementation of emergency landslide prevention and control plans. Region 5 Navy has mobilized nearly 50 officers and soldiers to quickly come to the scene to coordinate with on-site forces to organize the removal of people's assets from the landslide area, while at the same time securing their houses and transporting them to the area. With a spirit of urgency and positivity, officers and soldiers of the Navy Region 5 and other forces were immersed in cold rain and heavy waves for many hours continuously to embank the coastal areas that were subsided, landslides, and damaged. to invade deep into residential areas.

In the coastal areas of Rach Gia - Phu Quoc and Tho Chau, the southwest wind is level 4-5, sometimes gusting to level 6, and the sea is sometimes slightly rough.
