The scene of a landslide that buried 4 people in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city
The accident happened at about 4:00 on August 12, in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, buried 4 people sleeping, 3 people were confirmed dead and 1 person is currently being treated.
Information from Ha Long City People's Committee said that the incident happened in a residential area of group 8, zone 4, Bai Chay ward. Immediately after receiving the news, the functional forces were present to handle the incident and search for victims.
Mr. Pham Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee - was directly present at the scene to direct the rescue, rescue and search for victims.
After more than 2 hours of searching efforts, at about 7:30 a.m. the same day, a body was removed from the pile of rocks. At about 8:20 a.m., the second victim was found and taken to the emergency room at Bai Chay Hospital.
By 9 a.m. on August 12, all 4 victims were rescued and taken out of the pile of rocks, of which only 1 person survived, currently being actively treated by doctors at Bai Chay Hospital.
Rescuse forces are helping victims out off the danger zone
At the scene, the embankment landslide area is next to a construction site. It is known that all 4 people are construction workers, living temporarily in temporary shacks right below the embankment foot. When the landslide, 4 people were sleeping so they could not escape.
Initially, Ha Long city supported the family of 10 million VND for each dead person, Bai Chay ward supported 3 million VND. The city also directed the City Health Center to take samples for COVID-19 testing on the victims. For 3 households above the embankment, the city has also relocated in time to ensure safety.
