Organizing the preliminary round of the Golden Bell contest "Preventing and fighting natural disasters with you - Creating a sustainable future" in Lao Cai

11:12:41, 08/07/2025 On April 28, 2025, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control coordinated with Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company to organize the Golden Bell contest "With you to prevent and fight natural disasters - Building a sustainable future" at the provincial level for secondary school students in Lao Cai province.

The program is implemented according to Program No. 01/CTrPH-BNNPTNT-BGDĐT dated January 5, 2024 on coordination in implementing the task of preventing, combating and mitigating natural disaster risks in the education and training sector between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and the Ministry of Education and Training for the period 2024-2029.

From April 14 to April 27, the Organizing Committee coordinated with secondary schools (Bat Xat town, DTNT school, Quang Kim school) to organize review and disseminate knowledge to nearly 1,500 secondary school students in the province. Through the review and dissemination of knowledge, students were provided with documents and knowledge about the types of natural disasters that frequently occur in the area, some skills to prepare, prevent, and respond to natural disasters to ensure safety of life and property, especially the work of preventing and preparing food and provisions (dried food, instant food, canned food, etc.) in response to natural disasters and skills to handle real-life situations when natural disasters occur.

With the attention and guidance of teachers in the school, students actively and enthusiastically learned about knowledge about natural disaster prevention and control and climate change. Accessing knowledge and skills about natural disaster prevention not only helps students understand the types of natural disasters, natural disaster risks, how to respond and mitigate risks on the spot, protect themselves when extreme weather events occur, but also has the power to spread knowledge to relatives, family, friends, and the community where they live.

On April 28, 2025, the Preliminary round took place at schools with the full and enthusiastic participation of teachers and nearly 1,500 students from grades 6 to 9.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Principal of Thi Tran Bat Xat Secondary School, "The Golden Bell Contest has promoted the emulation movement to study well, created a healthy and useful playground for students and received enthusiastic and exciting participation from students; created opportunities for students to improve their understanding, awareness and practice skills in disaster prevention and control".

Representative of Quang Kim Secondary School: "This is not only an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, apply the knowledge they have learned, but also a valuable opportunity for each student to improve their understanding and skills in responding to natural disasters that may occur in life".

At the end of the Preliminary round, the Jury selected the 100 best students to participate in the Final round. The Final Round is scheduled to be held on May 13, 2025, at Bat Xat Town Secondary School.
