Two weeks after the historic earthquake, Hatay, Turkey's southernmost city is still struggling to recover from the rubble.

The large earthquake caused major buildings to collapse in the city of Antakya. In the days when Nhan Dan reporters were here, wherever we went, we also encountered this sprawling scene.

Behind this man is a house that has been completely turned upside down. Walking past what was once a peaceful refuge, this man could not hide his anxiety about the future ahead.

Not only high-rise buildings were toppled, even lower buildings that were supposed to be safe were not immune to disaster. According to statistics, more than 12,000 buildings in Turkey easily collapsed in the magnitude 7.8 earthquake due to poor construction quality and lax construction management.

The earthquake "tears" houses to pieces. Even with buildings not completely collapsed, this terrible vestige is still evident.
