Serious landslide in Trung Son commune, Phu Tho declares emergency situation

9:5:33, 11/09/2025 On September 8, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province issued a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency (due to landslides and rock subsidence) in Trung Son commune. Of which, nearly 1,000m3 of soil has collapsed into the Trung Son commune headquarters area.

According to the report, due to the impact of storm No. 5 in Phu Tho province from August 24, 2025 to August 27, 2025, there was heavy to very heavy rain; in which, the total rainfall in Trung Son commune was over 287mm. According to the report of Trung Son commune People's Committee, the natural disaster caused landslides on the slopes near the houses of 10 households in 5 residential areas..

Of which, 4 households were forced to evacuate from the high-risk landslide area. Many rice and crop areas of the people were flooded; many roads had landslides with large amounts of soil and rock in 5 residential areas and 3 landslides on provincial road 321 in Trung Son commune; 1 low-voltage electric pole was broken.

In particular, on August 26, 2025, the nearly 100m high hill slope behind the office of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Son commune was eroded, with an estimated length of about 40m, height of about 20m, and a volume of nearly 1000m3, damaging 02 toilets and a section of the surrounding wall of the headquarters; the slope of provincial road 321 in front of the commune headquarters was eroded for a length of 15m.

By the morning of August 27, heavy rain continued to fall in Trung Son commune, the slope of the hill behind the headquarters continued to collapse; in response to the above situation, the People's Committee of Trung Son commune reported to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the commune to urgently move all cadres to temporary working headquarters at the Health Station, Commune Police, and Cultural House in Nai area to work.

Assessment of the risk of possible damage: The situation of the slope of the slope behind the working headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Son commune is at risk of occurring at any time, directly threatening the safety of many people's lives (civil servants working at the headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and people coming to work at the Public Administration Center); at the same time, there is a risk of loss of safety of people's lives and property when participating in traffic on Provincial Road 321 (the section in front of the headquarters).

Decision No. 929/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee determines: The affected area is the working area of ​​the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Son commune, including the negative slope of Provincial Road 321 along the stream flowing through the headquarters of the Trung Son Commune People's Committee. Time to implement emergency measures on natural disasters: Complete before September 15, 2025. Implementation costs: Trung Son commune budget; provincial budget support (from reserve funds) and other legal sources of capital.


The headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Son commune were fenced off after the landslide.

Landslide of nearly 1,000m3 of rock and soil directly threatened the safety of Trung Son Commune People's Committee headquarters.

Urgent measures that need to be applied immediately to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters: The Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Trung Son commune to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently implement the following tasks:

Continue to focus on directing departments, offices and units to fully and seriously implement the tasks on natural disaster prevention and control, civil defense prescribed in Decree No. 66/2021/ND-CP dated July 6, 2021, No. 200/2025/ND-CP dated July 9, 2025 of the Government and other relevant regulations.

Urgently provide full and accurate information to people and relevant organizations and units about emergency situations related to natural disasters; Organize a review and determine the number of civil servants, public employees, workers, documents, files, equipment, and important assets at the old office to move to a temporary office to ensure safety and no loss of documents and equipment for work.

Determine the locations of cultural houses in the area, public works, and houses suitable for temporary repair, and arrange stable (temporary) working positions for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers to ensure maintenance and no interruption of work and tasks of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Son commune; in particular, no interruption of the operation of the Public Administration Service Center to serve the people. At the same time, announce the temporary working locations of agencies located at the new location on mass media so that people and organizations know.

Regularly inspect and monitor the development of landslides and landslides and place traffic warning signs, landslide warning signs, and warning signs of damage to structures; have solutions to monitor and assess the level of landslides and landslide risks to propose plans to protect structures and state assets, and reuse structures after repair; in case of detecting phenomena that pose a potential risk of insecurity, it must be reported immediately to the Provincial Civil Defense Command.

The Provincial People's Committee has assigned specific tasks to relevant agencies and units to proactively coordinate in responding to and overcoming landslides at the Trung Son Commune People's Committee headquarters./.
