Iran's state broadcaster reported on May 6 that an earthquake of 5.1 magnitude occurred in the western province of Lorestan and there is currently no information about earthquake casualties.
The earthquake struck near the city of Firouzabad with a tremor at a depth of 7km. Four rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene.
Iran is one of the countries with the most earthquakes in the world. In 2017, an earthquake of magnitude 7 in the western part of the country claimed 600 lives and injured more than 9,000.
Earlier, in 2003, an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude shook Kerman province, killing 31,000 people and flattening the ancient city of Bam.
