Technical workshop on introducing "Portal of Disaster risk reduction project " in Vietnam

9:46:10, 14/06/2016 On 09/6/2016, Disaster Management Center held a technical workshop, chaired by Dr Vu Kien Trung – Deputy Director, on introducing and sharing the system with the relevant agencies of Directorate of Water Resources and some disaster management units such as Department of Disaster Prevention and Control, Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, Institute of Water Resources Planning and NGOs

To support the implementation of the National Strategy for disaster prevention and mitigation to 2020, the Hyogo Framework for Action, It’s assessed necessarily and helpfully to develop a system of disaster risk reduction project which gradually support for needs assessment, planning and enhance effectiveness of cooperation at national and regional levels.

According to ADPC’s report, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Nepal and Cooks Island are the first 05 countries in Asia that have built project portals.

Currently, the portal system in Vietnam has updated information for 563 project of INGOs, provinces / cities and related national agencies from 2007 - 2015
In the discussion, the portal development is considered as a necessity by participants. However, to promote better efficiency in the future, participants came up with a number of comments regarding to the collection, updating and management of databases and information sharing on similar systems under DMC’s management. In 2012, in document No. 207 / GNTT, Directorate of Water Resources allowed and assigned DMC cooperate with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) to develop Portal of Disaster risk reduction project in Vietnam” (Project portal)

Ending the workshop, Dr. Vu Kien Trung - Deputy Director summarized the discussion and thanked to technical partners from ADPC and participants. DMC is willing to share and receive contributions from related agencies and organizations, as well as shares data with similar systems which will be built in the near future.
