15:12:57, 01/07/2024 The consecutive floods in the province from June 9 to 11 (as of 10:00 a.m. on June 11) have killed 3 people (2 in Hoang Su Phi, 1 in Quan Ba), affected over 1,400 houses (3 houses completely collapsed), damaged over 278 hectares of rice and vegetables, 28.7 hectares of fish ponds overflowed, thousands of livestock and poultry were swept away, 281 motorbikes and 91 cars were flooded, tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and rocks were eroded on roads from National Highways, Provincial Roads, inter-village and inter-commune roads. The total damage caused by natural disasters is estimated at 61 billion VND.

Phuong Thien Commune, Ha Giang City mobilized forces and vehicles to clean up a deeply flooded road.

With the motto "4 on-site", urgently saving people, saving property, helping people stabilize their lives, localities have proactively mobilized forces and means to support people in moving property, repairing houses, cleaning up mud after floods, and harvesting crops. In Ha Giang city, with 39 flooded areas, thousands of households had water entering their houses. Right on the afternoon of June 10, when the water began to recede, people actively cleaned their houses, collected garbage, cleaned up mud and soil on the streets, and supported the repair of flooded vehicles. Chairman of Phuong Thien Commune People's Committee, Le Thai Hung said: "Phuong Thien Commune has a 600m long flooded road, both sides of the road are buried in mud about 5 - 10cm deep, making it difficult for vehicles to travel. From early morning on June 11, when the water receded, the commune mobilized human resources to actively dredge mud, clear ditches, and is expected to clean the entire road by the afternoon of the same day, ensuring convenient travel for people and vehicles."

To help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, the Military Command of Ha Giang province mobilized over 200 officers and soldiers of Regiment 877, over 300 officers and soldiers of the regular force and militia of the City Military Command to help people in Ngoc Ha ward, Phuong Thien commune, Ngoc Duong commune, Son Ca Kindergarten, Hoa Mai to rescue, clean up, and collect garbage. Along with that, hundreds of police officers and soldiers braved the storm, using means such as: special vehicles, motorboats, rubber boats and other means to carry out rescue work at deeply flooded areas in the city; supporting people to clean up their houses and stabilize their lives..

In Vi Xuyen district, one of the localities heavily affected by floods, more than 170 houses, 66 hectares of rice and crops were affected, 7 suspension bridges and many roads were damaged, with total damage of over 6 billion VND. Chairman of Vi Xuyen District People's Committee Hoang Thanh Tinh said: "As soon as a natural disaster occurs, comrades in the District's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control directly go to the area to grasp the situation, promptly direct the overcoming of consequences, support, evacuate people and property to safe places; arrange temporary accommodation for households whose houses have collapsed and households whose houses are severely damaged; military forces, militia, youth, women, and veterans all actively help people repair houses, level mud and soil, harvest agricultural products, repair livestock barns, clean up the environment, and prevent disease outbreaks after floods. Communes mobilize vehicles and machinery to proactively repair and quickly overcome inter-village and inter-commune roads that have been eroded by landslides and rocks to ensure traffic, without being cut off or isolated. Proactively repair and quickly restore essential infrastructure, especially medical stations, electricity and water systems, traffic works, irrigation works, and dams to proactively respond to possible future floods, quickly restore production immediately after the flood, and contribute to stabilizing people's lives.
