To discuss some issues on need assessment and geospatial data of the integrated water resources management for agriculture and development of the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam.

DMC introduced the functions and tasks; the activities was carried out in the framework of cooperation with United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response ( UNSPIDER ), Space Technology Institute ( STI ), The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency ( JAXA); plan of applying geospatial technology in disaster prevention and control. DMC identified the priorities of geospatial technology application in disaster prevention and control according to the functions and tasks of DMC in which emphasized the human resource development, data sources and sharing mechanism as well as the feasibility of the application of space technology in the research and monitoring some particular disaster types. DMC also recommended that the delegation consider the encouragement of research applications and proposal for Directorate of Water resources to support for salt intrusion, land slide, drought and fluctuations of the quantity and quality of water for socio - economic development in the Mekong River Delta.
Based on the activities of DMC, the delegation shared the result of the Program, the ability to coordinate with DMC for professional capacity building, data provision to be able to integrate in the early warning systems VinAWARE
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Bui Quang Huy , Deputy Director of DMC thanks for the cooperation of the SERVIR Program and look forward that the delegation will gather and consider proposal of DMC on the needs and recommendation in the framework of cooperation program
