The participants of the Training Workshop includes the representatives from related agencies of Water Resources Directorate (DDMFSC, NDMC, Center for Consultant and Technology Transfer in Water Resources, The Vietnam Academy of Water Resources Directorate); the representatives from Sub-Department of Irrigation (Dyke Management) and Flood& Storm Control/ Standing Office of Provincial Committee for Flood and Storm Control of 14 coastal provinces from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan and 5 highland provinces from Kon Tum to Lam Dong; the representatives from Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and JICA Short Term Experts from The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and The Water Agency Japan.
Following the Training Workshop in 2010, this year Training Workshop has been continuously strengthening the capacity of related department of MARD and DARD staffs of central and highland provinces through the 07 following themes: (1) Outline of Historical Floods, Causes and proposal for solution in Central Provinces; (2) Dam Operation and Management in Japan; (3) Flood Simulation and Hazard Mapping under Global Climate Change; (4) Community Based Disaster Risk Management; (5) Early Warning System and Communicating Warning; (6) Traditional Method and Management on Riverbank Protection in Japan; (7) Pilot Project on Riverbank Protection Works and Guideline on Riverbank Erosion Management and combination with visiting the Pilot Project’s activities, exchanging information and sharing experiences each other.
Through attending the training workshop, the Flood and Storm Control system’s staff from 19 provinces will be improve by learning the knowledge and skill in structure and non-structure measures and they could be able to review and suitably apply in disaster prevention in their localities.
