The program “Border Spring – Warming the Hearts of Villagers” 2026 was organized in the border commune of Hung Son, Da Nang City.
Heartfelt Gifts
Returning to the remote mountainous commune of Tra Doc, we could clearly feel that life is gradually returning to normal. Along the only road stretching some 42 kilometers from the commune center along the Song Tranh 2 hydropower reservoir to hamlets 4, 5, 6 and 9, severely damaged sections have been promptly repaired, allowing vehicles to travel again. Landslide-hit areas were quickly reinforced thanks to emergency funding support from Da Nang City. Four houses in hamlets 5 and 9 have also been repaired in a timely manner through coordination between local authorities and armed forces.
The Tra Doc communal authorities have drawn up plans and assigned working groups to visit each hamlet to deliver Tet gifts and extend timely support to residents affected by natural disasters.
Phan Duy Hung, Chairman of the Tra Doc Commune People’s Committee, said that thanks to the prompt and effective support from Da Nang City and benefactors, no residents in the commune have suffered from hunger or cold. Roads have been repaired in time. The locality has carefully prepared visits and Tet gifts for revolutionary contributors, disadvantaged children, poor households and reputable community members. A detailed list has been compiled to ensure that gifts from the State President and Da Nang City are delivered directly to beneficiaries, with a total value of nearly VND 1.2 billion in cash and presents.
In Tra Tan Commune, floods caused severe damage with more than 60 landslide sites, including major ones in Tra Giac, Thang Phuong and Ngoc Giac hamlets. A total of 85 houses were damaged or destroyed, including 18 that collapsed or were swept away. Following the “Swift Quang Trung Campaign,” the commune simultaneously launched construction of 18 new houses for affected households, with financial support ranging from VND 200–250 million per house.
On the day she moved into her spacious, sturdy and fully furnished new home, still fragrant with fresh paint and with the national flag fluttering in the yard, Dinh Thi Ngoc Hai of Ngoc Giac Hamlet expressed deep emotion. “The floods at the end of October 2025 completely swept away my house. Now that I have been supported with a new home like this, I am overjoyed. Thanks to the Party, the State and benefactors, my family and others here have new houses to celebrate Tet and welcome spring.”
Le Minh Chien, Chairman of the Tra Tan Commune People’s Committee, said the locality has completed and handed over all 18 houses. At the same time, the commune is focusing on ensuring a full and meaningful Lunar New Year for residents. With the motto “Joyful, safe and economical,” and ensuring that “Tet reaches every household and every person,” the commune has organized visits and gift-giving for war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs’ families, policy beneficiary families, reputable community members, patients at the local health station, the elderly and disadvantaged children. Special attention has been given to distributing food and gifts to residents in isolated “low-lying” areas to ensure that no one is left without Tet and no one goes hungry during the transitional season.
Leaving No One Behind
As preparations for the Lunar New Year gather pace, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City issued Plan No. 12/KHMTTQ-BTT dated December 31, 2025, on coordinating care and support for poor, near-poor and especially disadvantaged households to ensure that every family can celebrate Tet.
Accordingly, 14,420 gift packages worth a total of VND 12.9 billion have been provided from the city’s “For the Poor” Fund. Member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and local committees at commune and ward levels have been tasked with proactively developing plans and mobilizing social resources to visit and present Tet gifts to union members, association members and vulnerable groups, ensuring transparency, proper targeting and practical effectiveness.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, said that alongside mobilizing resources to care for residents during Tet, the committee has coordinated with relevant units to organize the program “Tet Gifts for Binh Ngo 2026 – Connecting Da Nang, Spreading Love,” aimed at supporting people in difficult circumstances, especially those in mountainous communes in the western and southwestern areas heavily affected by recent natural disasters.
These activities not only provide timely material support to help residents overcome hardships ahead of the New Year, but also carry profound spiritual significance, bringing confidence, warmth and encouragement for people to move forward in life.
Such humane and compassionate efforts further deepen the tradition of solidarity and kindness of the Vietnamese people and of Da Nang residents, while affirming the important role of social organizations in ensuring that spring is truly warm and fulfilling for everyone.
