
A resident's house in Thanh Binh commune was damaged by the storm.
According to statistics, as of 8:00 AM on May 6th, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms caused one house to collapse and 36 houses to have their roofs blown off (25 of which were completely destroyed) in Thanh Binh commune. The storm also knocked down seven power poles. Many trees along main roads were uprooted, causing localized traffic disruptions. The total estimated damage is over 600 million VND.
Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune, in coordination with the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, mobilized all military and police forces to quickly assist residents in repairing damaged houses caused by the storm to stabilize their lives; and to trim and clear fallen trees along the roads. To date, the roads are clear, allowing people to travel through the area easily.
Currently, the People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune continues to mobilize military, police, and local emergency response forces to assist households whose houses were destroyed or had their roofs blown off, helping them clean up and repair their homes to quickly restore their lives to normalcy. At the same time, the People's Committee of the commune directed departments and divisions to continue investigating and assessing the damage, visiting and supporting affected households according to regulations. The Electricity sector is repairing fallen power poles to restore the power grid to serve households living in the area by May 6th.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, since the beginning of the year, the province has experienced 2 storms and tornadoes, with estimated damage exceeding 1.472 billion VND. The storms caused the collapse of 1 house and damaged the roofs of 88 houses (including 40 houses with completely damaged roofs).../.
