In the recently years, the situation of natural disaster is very extreme in all over the world and also in ASEAN region because of climate change, human induced activities, which caused many losses of lives, economic, social, cultural assets, infrastructure, as well as bad effects on environment, livelihoods, and sustainable development. In order to prevent, mitigate and effective response to disasters in this current context, it requires ASEAN to enhance cooperation not only among the stakeholders at the national level but also at the regional and global level.

COP4 in 2015 in Cambodia had approved the establishment of the ACDM working group on Knowledge & Innovation Management, the overall objective of the Working Group on Knowledge and Innovation Management is to strengthen ASEAN’s regional knowledge management system and mechanism, and professionalism to enable ASEAN to become the global leader and Centre for excellence and innovations in disaster management.
Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore is co-chairs of KIM.

Review the relevant Decisions of the 5th ACDM WG (KIM) Meeting and the 34th ACDM meeting in Mandalay, Myanmar.
Update on ACDM knowledge & Innovation Management projects and activities under the managment for the working group, and discuss the cooperation with our partners on how we cooperate together in order to mobilize more participatory and support and resources to implement the activities under the framework of our working group.
The participants from country members of KIM group is attending the workshop.
The meeting will be finished today on 13th September with 9 delegations from country members (Lao PDR cannot attend). Beside the meeting, there is a open discusstion for 6 partners in the region to share knowledge about disaster risk mitigation and call for support from partners.
