The heavy rain that lasted from the night of June 6 to the morning of June 7, in Son La city, Son La province caused flooding, seriously affecting people's daily life. In the past 3 days, the water level in the bordering area between Chieng Ngan commune and Chieng An ward, Son La city has receded, but is still higher than 2m, making it difficult for people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
The Noong Ang area, which borders Chieng An ward and Chieng Ngan commune, Son La city 3 days after the heavy rain, is still submerged in the "sea of water". Instead of riding motorbikes and cars, people now have to travel by floats or homemade boats.
Pointing to the house that was flooded more than 2m deep, Mr. Ha Duy Thanh, from Noong Ang area said: Due to the amount of water pouring in at night too quickly, the family only had time to evacuate everyday items to the 2nd floor, remaining entire flocks of nearly 100 chickens, ducks and fish ponds have drifted along with the flood water. More sadly, the orchard including mangoes, bananas and plums with an area of nearly 3,000 m2 during the harvest season is also submerged in water. Damage was estimated at 400 million VND.
"The current water level is still quite deep, it must be about 2m high, so the current family is still trying to overcome it by being self-sufficient; hopefully in the coming days it won't rain anymore, now it's time to come in. At the beginning of summer, if there are next rains like this, I am afraid the water will rise again, if the drainage section that the city has previously worked on cannot be cleared, it will continue to be flooded. the family will not know what to do," said Ha Duy Thanh.
Preliminary statistics show that the recent flood has flooded nearly 7 hectares of crops and houses of 10 households and business offices in Noong Ang area.
Mr. Lu Van Tuan in Noong Ang area, Chieng Ngan ward, Son La city also added: The prolonged heavy rain caused rapid flooding, causing the family to move to the fields and set up temporary shelters, until today 9/ 6, the family has just returned, cleaning the house, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters:
Mr. Lu Van Tuan said, when it rained heavily, the water rushed in very quickly, the family did not prepare in time, lost their temper, so they only had time to move the furniture. After this flood, it is hoped that the authorities at all levels will pay attention and care, see the plan to open caves and make drainage ditches to reduce suffering in the rainy season.
Although the rain has stopped today, the amount of water from the underground aquifers on the mountain continues to pour into the Noong Ang area, causing the water level to recede slowly, some households are still flooded with water more than 1 meter high. The road in this area is still flooded, making it difficult to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
From 2018 to now, this is the second time that people in Noong Ang area have been flooded with prolonged heavy rain. People here are very much looking forward to the local government to soon have a drainage plan, to ensure the safety of life and property and to stabilize the people's life and activities, especially when the rainy season this year comes early. and forecast complicated and unpredictable developments.
