3 out of 4 people swept away by flood in Cao Bang are brothers

Victims before they swefted away by flood

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of July 6, Mr. Nong Dinh Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Mong An commune (Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province) - said that on the night of 5-7, the rescue force found the body. Possibly 1 out of 4 victims was swept away by floods on the afternoon of 5-7.

The victim was found to be Ms. Phung Thi N. (in Mong An commune). Just last night, the authorities handed over the body to the victim's family.

"From last night to this morning, more than 100 people are still actively searching for 3 victims of the flood, but there are still no results" - Mr. Tuan added.

Rescue crews search through the night to search for missing victims

According to Mr. Tuan, on the afternoon of 5-7, Mr. Duong Van L. and Mr. Duong Van Q., Ly Van P. and Ms. Phung Thi N., Trieu Thi K. (both in Mong An commune) were shoveling sand on the shore. stream in Pac Mieu town (Bao Lam district), the flood suddenly hit.

"When the water returned, 5 people were in the middle of the stream, people also shouted, but they probably didn't think the water was high so they didn't run to the shore. After that, the flood water rose quickly and swept away 5 people, only Mr. Duong Van L. was lucky to be able to swim to shore," said Mr. Tuan, adding that 3 of the 4 people swept away by the flood were brothers in the same family. It was Mr. L.'s wife and Mr. and Mrs. L.'s husband and wife's brother (Mr. Q. and Ms. K.).
