The Philippine Institute of Seism and Volcano (Phivolcs) said on the morning of September 21, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred in the southern province of Surigao del Sur.
According to Phivolcs, the quake occurred at 6:13 local time (5:13 pm Vietnam time) with the shockwave at a depth of 77km, 66km northeast of Bayabas town on Mindanao island.
The vibration can be felt in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte Province, and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental Province.
Phivolcs judged this earthquake would cause no damage but would produce some aftershocks.
