The Prime Minister asked to focus on responding to the risk of rain, floods and landslides

9:21:57, 12/08/2024 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked ministries, sectors and localities to focus on responding to the risk of floods, landslides and flash floods as forecasts show that from the night of August 11 to 15, heavy rain will occur in this area.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Official Telegram No. 78/CD-TTg dated August 11, 2024, requesting ministries, sectors and localities to focus on responding to the risk of rain, floods, landslides, and flash floods in the Northern region.

According to the forecast, from the night of August 11 to 15, in the North, there is a possibility of heavy rain with a common total rainfall of 100 to 250 mm, in some places over 400 mm. Due to the recent continuous heavy rains, the soil has been saturated with water, the water on rivers and streams is at a high level, so the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous, midland and slope areas is very high; deep flooding in low-lying, low-lying and urban areas.


The Prime Minister asked to focus on responding to the risk of rain, floods and landslides.

In order to proactively respond, the Prime Minister asked the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities: Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hai Phong,  Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An continue to direct the careful review of residential areas, promptly detect areas at risk of unsafety, especially areas at risk of landslides and flash floods, resolutely relocate people from dangerous areas to ensure life safety,  property for the people.

Localities proactively arrange forces, vehicles, food, and necessities in critical areas at risk of separation during heavy rains and floods, landslides, and floods to promptly carry out rescue, rescue and support work when there is a situation.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment directs the hydrometeorological forecasting agency to continue to closely monitor the development of rain and floods, forecast and provide timely information
